The element that best describes the ancient village of Alberona is water. Located at the foot of Mount Stillo, the village is surrounded by vegetation made luxuriant by the many water streams that run in the Daunian Apennines. The village is at the centre of 600 hectares of woods. Its streets are characterised by many small fountains, which show the strong connection between man and water. The most impressive is the Monumental Fountain, called Fontana Muta. Water is also the main theme of the excursions organised in the area, such as the trip to the Canale dei Tigli, which creates beautiful tall waterfalls that fall into the verdant vegetation.
