Alessano (LE) Puglia

Located at the foot of the hills of Sierra dei Cianci, Alessano is a village with a particular identity. The distance from Lecce has weakened the Baroque influence of the city. Here architecture is more linear, more essential, almost similar to the architecture of the Renaissance. The historic centre is very well preserve and its architectural beauty is evident in some beautiful buildings, such as Palazzo Legari, home to the House of Gonzaga, Palazzo Sangiovanni and Palazzo Ducale, as well as in some splendid churches: Chiesa del Santissimo Salvatore, Chiesa di Sant’Antonio and the breath-taking church of Collegiata, majestic in its Baroque style.
