Castelvecchio Calvisio

Castelvecchio Calvisio (AQ) Abruzzo

The extremely unusual shape of Castelvecchio Calvisio means that you would recognize it from above. The village, which stands on the summit of a hill more than 1000 meters above sea level, has a distinctive oval shape that seems to gather in the fortified town protectively, and which makes it special and unique. At the heart of its fortified center lie narrow streets spanned by vaults and arches, and houses built on multiple levels accessed by ancient stone steps known as barbicans. These glimpses of medieval times make for a unique and extremely evocative atmosphere. Add to this the wonderful countryside that surrounds the town and the intense flavors of its culinary tradition, and the attraction is clear... all that remains is to discover it for yourself.
