Castrignano de' Greci

Castrignano de' Greci (LE) Puglia

As the name clearly says, Castrignano de’ Greci has Hellenic origins. It is the land of “Glossa grika”, where the Griko dialect has been recovered and studied with passion and is still spoken today, in order to preserve the cultural and linguistic roots of this territory. The picturesque centre hosts elements and architectures that tell the story of the village, such as the Clock Tower and the baronial Palace, as well as the narrow streets and little courtyards, called “àvili” in Greek, which preserved the identity of ancient civilisations that left behind their traditional and cultural heritage.
