Celle di San Vito is the smallest village of the Region Apulia in terms of number of inhabitants. It is surrounded by nature: woods of beech, oak pine, poplar, ask trees and elm that are the natural treasure of the area and host beautiful animals such as foxes and squirrels. Celle is singled out of the surrounding villages by its unique dialect, an ancient language dating back to the 13th century and the presence of the French soldiers of Charles of Anjou. The musical sounds of the Franco-Provencal language can still be heard in Celle and in Faeto, the inly two Franco-Provencal minorities in Apulia. These sounds become an enchanting melody in today’s language.
