Fontanellato

Fontanellato (PR) Emilia-Romagna

The beauty of Fontanellato lies in its artistic roots. This small town is well known for its majestic Fortress, which hosts a precious artistic jewel: the “Saletta di Diana e Atteone” with the frescoes painted from 1523 to 1524 by Francesco Mazzola, called Parmigianino. The Saletta is one of the masterpieces painted as he was still very young for Count Galeazzo Sanvitale and his wife, Paola Gonzaga. The frescoes show figures from ancient myths and legends and the visitor is wrapped up in the fine details of that enchanted world.
