Lizzanello

Lizzanello (LE) Puglia

Located in the central-northern part of the Salento Region, in the Cupa Valley, Lizzanello is surrounded by olive tree groves. From the village, the eye gets lost among the wide olive tree groves that have turned the village into an important production centre for olive oil. Visitors should not miss the Church of San Lorenzo Nuovo, with its Baroque façade and the two bell towers, built in the 16th century, nor the Chapels of Immacolata and Annunziata. The origins of Lizzanello are rooted in its castle, successively transformed into a noble dwelling, which still bears the signs of its original role as defensive fortress.
