You may be interested to know that San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore has the longest name of any town in the whole region, and, alongside Pino sulla Sponda del Lago Maggiore, the longest in Italy. The small town is charming and welcoming, with flights of steps that widen out unexpectedly to offer splendid views. The ancient center, situated on a hill from which it dominates the valley below, grew up around Castello Farnese and the cathedral. The town also has an interesting museum that is well worth a visit. The Museo dei Fossili e delle Ambre (Museum of Fossils and Amber) is home to a huge collection of fossils that tell the story of the last 500 million years of our planet, as well as an important amber collection. The museum can be found in the seventh century villa of Olivieri de Cambacérès.
