A small municipality in the foothills of Monte Zoncolan, Sutrio is known for the production of wood products and is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination on account of its prime location. It is an ideal base for visitors, just a few minutes from the ski slopes in winter and equally well placed to accommodate cyclists attracted by the lure of Monte Zoncolan in the summer. Meanwhile, a few kilometers’ drive away are the Terme di Arta springs, where visitors can relax and rediscover their inner calm. Sutrio also offers a range of cultural and foodie events throughout the year, with many tourists attracted from the adjoining Veneto region and even nearby countries like Slovenia and Austria. The Teno nativity scene is one of the big draws: this miniature reproduction of the village took the woodworking master Gaudenzio Straulino over 30 years to complete. It has become a tourist attraction in its own right, with huge numbers of visitors coming to see it every year.
