Vinci (FI) Toscana

Built around the castle that has been the heart of the town since its foundation by the Conti Guidi in the 11th century, Vinci is well known for being the birthplace of one of the giants of humanity: Leonardo. The place is like a tribute to his achievements, his genius, his life story. If you’d like to discover some of his works, don’t miss the museum and library, which are situated in the castle and hold a huge collection of Leonardo’s model inventions, including a projector, a helicopter, a parachute, hydraulic machinery and military equipment, all accompanied by designs and annotations written by hand by the artist himself. In Anchiano, you can visit Leonardo’s birthplace before taking a stroll through the alleyways and countryside, losing yourself in the same landscape that the great man himself once looked out on.
