Visso (MC) Marche

A small mountain town, Visso lies in the heart of the National Park of Mount Sibillini, and is also home to its headquarters. The town has a rich history that can be seen to this day in its architecture. Indeed, walking through the old town is a captivating experience: visitors will see imposing Medieval walls, towers, houses and balconies, along with stately Renaissance buildings and archways made from sculpted stone bearing family crests and Latin mottos. But the heart of the town, the most evocative corner, which is sure to leave visitors wide-eyed, is Piazza dei Martiri Vissani: bright, elegant, and protected by splendid buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. A true architectural and historical jewel. Visso unfortunately incurred serious damage in the 2016 earthquake.
